FREYR appoints new EVPs and VPs to help drive business development

LUXEMBOURG, NEW YORK, USA and OSLO, Norway, August 20, 2021 – FREYR AS (FREYR), the Norway-based developer of clean, next-generation battery cell production capacity is pleased to announce the appointment of four new senior executives to the company as the company executes its growth strategy founded on rapid scaling of clean, next-generation and low-carbon battery cell production.

Tilo Hauke, EVP Supply Chain Management
Tilo Hauke has more than 20 years of experience in the carbon and graphite industry, especially in materials and components for the renewable energy sector. Previously, he was Senior Vice President responsible for SGL Carbon's Fuel Cell Components Business. He held various management positions including supply chain management, plant management and head of the central research and development department. Tilo holds a PhD in solid state physics from University of Halle-Wittenberg and an MBA from University of Augsburg/Pittsburgh
Mats Deleryd, SVP Corporate Quality, Safety and Security Management
Mats Deleryd is currently CEO & President at SIQ – the Swedish Institute for Quality, SIQ being the Swedish national center for business excellence and organizational development. He is a senior executive with more than 20 years of experience in global top management positions developing sustainable transport solutions within ABB, Adtranz, Daimler-Chrysler, Bombardier, Volvo Construction Equipment and AB Volvo. He also holds a Professorship in “Product- and Process Development within the area of Quality and Organizational Development” at Mälardalen University, Sweden. Mats is an elected member of the “Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences”, IVA, an elected “Academician” and member of the “International Academy for Quality”, IAQ and he holds a MSc. in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Economics, PhD in the area of Total Quality Management from Luleå University of Technology, Sweden.
Christian M. Tate, VP Global Corporate Development
Prior to Freyr Battery, Christian served as the VP of Corporate Development for the Hitachi Global Digital Business Group. At Hitachi, Christian built the digital industrial platform by coalescing a common strategy and crafting a collection of transformative transactions. In addition to the digital industrial growth, Christian has spent 20+ years building and expanding companies in the Enterprise communications, infrastructure, software, and cloud markets. Christian earned a Masters’ in Business Administration from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
Thomas Bergan, SVP Production
Thomas comes from a position as CEO of Agility Subsea Fabrication. He has held various production management roles within different companies, such as Infineon Technologies and Autronica Fire And Security, with strong focus on utilizing Lean methodology for continuous improvements and has extensive experience with complex supply chains within high volume production as well as large project deliveries. Bergan holds a master’s degree in mechanical and environmental technology from University of South-Eastern Norway from 1992-98.
